Pamoja means "togetherness" in Swahili. I spent a little over a year living in Kenya when I was growing up and the culture and experience made a lasting impression on me. There I adopted the mantra Pamoja Tutashinda, meaning, "together we will win." I want my brand to echo the collaborative and celebratory vibe that I witnessed in East Africa from the rural villages to the big cities.

When I learned this term I adopted it instantly because I didn't teach myself about art and design, my community did. It began with weekly art lessons with my grandpa at 6, then art teachers and talented family who encouraged my curiosity for art. As an adult, books, peers, virtual workshops, and in person classes are all regular sources

As an adult, books, peers, virtual workshops, and in person classes are all regular sources of learning. I know what I know because others shared with me.

I've learned so much through client's stories since Pamoja Keepsakes began. I firmly believe that we are all better off when we work together. Each of us has a one-of-one perspective that is valuable. The more we trust, prioritize, and hone our own talents, the better solutions we can offer to one another.
