The Vollintine Evergreen Community Association needed help with building a brand guide for volunteers to implement cohesive visuals for marketing. The organization was looking to modernize existing brand assets for a timeless design they could use for a long time moving forward. They were also looking forward to celebrating the 55th anniversary of their community. In light of this, we worked to create a group of merch and digital assets to celebrate the event. Known for their historic architecture, neighborhood diversity, and green space, Vollintine Evergreen was ready to celebrate and highlight what mades them a unique place through some fresh design work.

The existing and previous designs had color palettes that were muted and dark and a variety of font usage over the years that made it feel less timeless. The existing logo being outlined and forcing the words to be unreadable was another challenge to solve.
While incorporating legacy through existing designs (like the leaf in the logo), nods to historic architecture, and colors; we managed to come up with designs that tied together the aspects of the old and the new.
By reworking these existing assets into newly imagined designs, we were able to maintain recognizable aspects of their current brand while imagining a new version that will feel timeless and authentic to the culture of the neighborhood association.

Combining old logo assets with new font design was a way to keep the legacy of their brand alive while adding a more readable font that feels new and functional.

What brought this project together was being able to illustrate representative people and places that were so important to the historic district. Illustrations deliver a unique opportunity for a brand to tell their unique story.

There are four main quadrants that make up the historic neighborhood, each with distinct landmarks and amenities. We designed a sticker in a distinctive shape so that quadrant stickers connect together.

In order to keep this project cohesive with previous designs and present systems, we kept the main colors and expanded on accent colors that brighten and modernize the brand. A brand guide was delivered to ensure cohesive design in the future.

When we expanded on the current brand accessibility is a key component to a successful visual brand. I utilize tools that demonstrate what is ADA approved to ensure that all design assets maintain his standards of accessibility and inclusion.

In the brand guide we cover the design systems and how to use them. From do's and don'ts of logo usage, to recommendations for colors with the highest contrast, to photo treatment tips... the guide makes space for ease and cohesion.

We created some general templates for use by their team to generate content quickly and easily. These templates work for neighborhood announcements, reminders for member due dates, community events, and more. With custom illustrations, these graphics are a 1:1.

We provided two retractable banner designs. One for their standard brand and one for the 55th anniversary.

With the anniversary version of the logo we created several versions for various merch items that the association were looking to have produced for a community anniversary event.

We created editable templates for Social media as well as Door hangers which can be used by the HOA to customize messaging and advertise future events. The neighborhood association also works to recruit new members so these assets serve as marketing for more participation.

The Anniversary design was translated over to T-shirts. A separate design was made specific for volunteers so they would be easy to spot during community events.

In celebration and anticipation for the end of the year, we designed a concept project where community members could assemble ornaments together as a collaborative activity for the holidays.
